Mother Goods

Could-Be Goods
Products in varying states of physical, financial, and more development.
Mother Goods is the digital shop window of Mother, a creative, multidisciplinary institution that seeks to improve the world, even if only in silly, marginal ways.
Who? The one predictable department of Mother, where every problem is met with the same solution: a product.
Why? Because creation is the flower that splits the asphalt of misery.
Past products include
Bliss Sofa: floating furniture for when sea levels rise.
The Gay Blood Collection: In 1983, the FDA introduced a guideline that effectively banned men who have sex with men from donating blood. A form of this ban remains in place to this day, making the US one of the only countries to continue to ban the donation of gay men’s blood. So we took the FDA’s unwanted blood and did something about it in collaboration with artist Stuart Semple.
Kickback: hand-crafted bathrobes are lined with the finest ballistic aramid fiber body plates, giving you the protection and peace of mind you need in a country where you can get shot by anyone, anywhere, at any time.
Release Papers: rolling papers that help smokers advocate on behalf of people incarcerated for marijuana-related convictions.
