When Target announced that its first Manhattan store would be located in Spanish Harlem, Mother knew that the campaign needed to engage New Yorkers in a way that was both comforting and fun. So Bill Brown’s illustration – now staring at Manhattanites from magazine pages, billboards and the shells of subway and bus cars – evoked both the familiar and the novel. Just like shopping at Target Harlem should be.
